A Tribute to Clarence Edward Willis |
| Clarence E. Willis truly
exemplified the best in church membership. He was always present for all church services
including Wednesday night prayer meeting and revivals; he supported and encouraged his
pastors and church lay leaders; and he shared his steadfast faith with his fellow church
members; for them and all acquaintances in all areas of his life, he expressed his concern
with a card, phone call, or visit when they were troubled. To his neighbors, he gave
generously of his time and his talent for repairing small motors and appliances,
especially after his retirement. He enjoyed reserving Monday for delivering Sunday worship tapes to shut ins always allowing extra time for a visit with each one, usually including church and community news to help them keep up with people and events. The spiritual welfare of his four sons and their families was especially important to him; their continuing participation in the church program is evidence of his influence in their lives. He understood and appreciated the value of a good example because his wife Belvagene until her death in 1995 had been a living witness to him and their family. Because he loved the church and was beloved by it members, his influence and his testimony in word and deed will live on in the harts and minds of those who served and worshiped with him during his life long membership in Ebenezer United Methodist Church ( Mrs. Mildred Johnson ) |
