| In Honor Of Mrs. Mildred Johnson |
| She is a devoted wife,
mother of two fine children, grandmother of five, and mother-in- law of two. Many of her
hours have been spent caring for her mother-in-law and brother-in-law which is continuing
today Before coming to our community, she was engaged in spiritual ministry with central United Methodist Church in Florence S.C.. After 30 years of teaching school and molding many lives with her manner of compassion for others to learn, she retired. One child, after church one Sunday was heard to tell her mother that she wanted Mrs. Mildred to be her mother because she smiled all the time. Many of the members of Ebenezer were her students. This faithful member of Ebenezer church for forty-seven years and has served on many committees during the years. For over ten years she taught the adult Sunday school class, always being well prepared to present the Gospel. As a member of the W.S.C.S., she supported all their projects for the benefit of Ebenezer and especially during the rebuilding of our church that was destroyed by fire. In the midst of all of this she shared her love with our children by directing and working in Bible school. Her dedication, knowledge, and commitment is the reason we have we have a fine library in our church. Many hours she has given freely and is still giving. The BI-Centennial of our church in 1995 was a great blessing to all because she went beyond the call of duty to direct. She did much research and traveled many miles to make our celebration an honorable occasion. For a while now she has organized the procedure of delivering the morning worship tapes to the sick and shut-ins As many people have been recognized for their work in the church, she was always asked to write the appropriate recognition. She willingly did this for others with much grace and expertise. In fact she wrote most of the articles on the people on this web site. Her community acts of kindness cannot be numbered over the years for those in need or sickness. Cards of remembrances from her are never ending. As a behind the scenes worker as well as a leader, she is an inspiration and encourages others to do the work of the Lord. With out hesitation she seeks out visitor to welcome them into service. In Acts 10:38 we are told that " Jesus went around doing good "; Mildred also goes around doing good. |
