The Bethlehem Community Center is
a multi-service agency providing an array of programs to the residents
of Spartanburg County. The Center's day care facility has the
capacity to serve 48 children between the ages of two and five.
The outreach department facilitates client-centered referrals, provides
emergency assistance with food, electrical, heating and rental payments
as well as coordinates self-empowerment focused programming.
The community service department provides numerous programs related
to after-school tutorial services, fine arts (dance, dramas, piano
lessons and arts), sports and recreational activities, scouting, seasonal
camping, primary prevention and leadership programs for community
youth. Programs for adults include Bible studies and fellowship,
nutritional programs, sewing and craft classes. A computer lab
is maintained for all program participants and community residents.
The facility is also available to host other agency sponsored programs
to serve the community. Financial and volunteer support for
the programs and services are needed.

ARCH
Ministries is an after school program serving Hispanic, Caucasian
and African American children. The program is located at Arcadia United Methodist Church. The students attend Arcadia Elementary School and live in the Arcadia and
Una communities of Spartanburg County. Ninety-eight percent
of the participants receive free or reduced price lunch.
The
main purpose of ARCH is to help students with their homework and to
implement Voyager, an accelerated reading program. The ministry
provides educational activities, recreation, refreshments and enrichment
opportunities in a nurturing environment.
