President
In the heat of the summer we can make plans for the fall when the weather will be cooler!
Our Greenville District UMW Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 20 at Francis Asbury UMC on East North Street in Greenville. Registration begins at 9:00am and the meeting will be done by 12:30 pm. The ladies there are looking forward to having us and I know we will have a great time.
Juanita Bowens has planned the meeting with Rev. Deb Richardson-Moore of Triune Mercy Center as our speaker. Our two scholarship attendees to School of Christian Mission will speak to us as well. The adult winner is Bonnie Lampe of Aldersgate. The youth winner is Ann Marie Failor of Berea Friendship, who is all of 13 years old. She says that she "had a ball" and cannot wait to tell us about her time at SOCM. Ladies, let's bring our daughters and granddaughters to this meeting and have a whole section of young ladies! We will have special favors for all of them. This way we can support Ann Marie and involve more young ladies in UMW. They are our future and we need them.
It was surely my pleasure to attend School of Christian Mission and learn about Native Americans, as well as enjoy all of the activities and all of the ladies there. Please think seriously about attending next year, as it is well worth your time.
This is my last letter to you as Greenville District President, as Juanita Bowens will assume this post at the Annual Meeting. It has been a great pleasure serving all of you over the last four years.
As always, thanks to all of you for your support and your prayers.
Peace and Love,
Virginia Clarke,
