The President's Notes

Dear United Methodist Women:

This is my last article as your president. I have enjoyed the last two years immensely. It is always good to be with you. I have many folks to thank for a successful two years: The Executive Committee, my church family, my husband and family, and my work family.

Eva Manigault surely knows how to throw a party. Eva is our chairperson of Membership, Nurture and Outreach and the "Fun Day" program at her Church, Mt Zion, was planned well, and the UMW members were most gracious.

School of Christian Mission at Spartanburg Methodist College was held July 24-27. I took the Native American Study and then went to the short course on "I Believe in Jesus." Last year I took the Israel - Palestine study so I have it all covered. We have many people to thank for a well run school, and Lois Coster, who was Dean of the school, is a fine administrator. We had a good number of people from the Orangeburg District. Hope to see more of you next year.

Presidents, please -get me the [names of your "Women of the Year" and your "Mission Today Unit Action Forms'' by September 1.

I look forward to being with you at the Annual Meeting at Trinity UMC in Bamberg. Registration begins at 9:00 AM. We will gather in the church sanctuary at 9:45 AM, Saturday, September 20.

Please send Mary Rivers the names of the women in your circles/units who have passed away this past year for their inclusion on the Memorial Page. The names of the women in your unit who completed the reading program should be sent to Sylvia Robinson. September 1st is the due date for both lists. Addresses to which all forms are to be sent are given in the Local Presidents' Planning Guide published in the June issue of The Lantern.

Sincerely,

Barbara L Jeffcoat
